How To Use Chakras For Growth

Using chakras as a tool for growth
by Catherine Potter
Do you feel unsupported? Do you sacrifice too much for others? How easy is change for you?
These sound like questions you might find on a psychologist’s questionnaire. However these are really some of the classic questions that are looked at when dealing with the root, navel and solar plexus chakras.
Although chakras have been receiving more attention in the west in the last 20 – 25 years, they really originate from an ancient Indian system of healing that’s roots actually go back to before 2,500 B.C.
Chakrasare vortices (disks) of energy located in our etheric body. There is a vertical line of energy that moves along the spine from the trunk to above the head. The seven major powerful points of energy (chakras) connect along this line to the nerve ganglia and have an impact on a specific endocrine gland. These sensitive points receive and store information and are affected by our thoughts and emotions thereby directly affecting the physical body.
The chakras are usually thought of as lotuses with different numbers of petals. The petals increase in number as they ascend indicating the increasing vibrational frequency of the chakra.
My study of the chakras began in the late 1980’s. After several years I began integrating some of the information into both my personal and astrological work realizing that the chakra system provided an excellent format for self development and the study of the more esoteric principles that support spiritual awakening. This then led to an experiential course I developed (which I now teach at Northern Star College) using the chakra system as an aid in one’s self-exploration and realization.
I believe that our outer reality is based on the clarity of our inner perception - what we believe we create. My own journey and work with others consistently gives me concrete proof of this. Throughout my life I’ve learned that things thought to be out of the realm of possibility are simply concepts that I’ve been unable to grasp because of my own limited, cloudy, perception.
When we take the time to clean our inner house, owning our strengths and shadows, learning how to observe our emotions and attractions rather than live out our emotional dramas, we dissolve much of that cloud and begin to see things with greater clarity. What once was considered mystical becomes mundane, extraordinary becomes normal and extra-sensory becomes commonsense.
As we see the world through clearer vision we work with natural laws rather than man made laws because we understand the interconnectedness of all things.
When working with the chakras what we aspire to experience is balance within all the chakras as they are interconnected with one supporting the other. As we journey along on the path to self realization there is a tendency to overemphasize some and underemphasize others which creates imbalances in our mental/emotional/physical bodies.
Some people think life in the upper chakras is more spiritual and look with disdain at the world of manifestation. Others like life in the lower chakras where things seem to make more sense and are tangible. Either position is one of imbalance and limitation.
Some people feel that chakras are closed or open. I think they are simply an accurate gage of where we focus our attention.
As we begin to make the journey inward we need to allow ourselves to become curious and question why we keep getting attracted back to a limited range of life experiences. Along the way we need to let go of the judger and let the observer guide us knowing we can use discernment rather than judgment to keep us on track. There is a whole world beyond the known just waiting for us to dip our hands into and begin to create from.
The three lower chakras focus on the world of form, five senses, tangibles and tend to be instinctive in their nature.
ROOT CHAKRA
Each one of the chakras has a law/right that governs it. The right associated with the root chakras is the right “to be and the right to have”.
If from the time we laid in our mother’s womb we learned and understood that we are simply a part of nature and just like a tree knows it has the right to the sun and rain for nourishment so do we have the right to be supported and nourished, all would be well in our world.
Chances are you didn’t learn that in the womb or in your early environment/teachings simply because we generally live in a society that is disconnected from knowing it’s wholeness. Therefore it teaches from a survival perspective. If you couple this with the knowledge that the origins of the root chakra are ancient and it holds within its memory life at a survival level, you can begin to understand the complexity and the vast amount of information that sits beneath the threshold of our conscious awareness at this our root/foundation level. So until we’ve begun to houseclean and shed some light on those hidden instincts this very powerful center brings up issues around safety and survival.
A person with a healthy root chakra will feel strong and supported in themselves and the world. They will have good health and the ability to manifest so that their needs are taken care of. When challenges exist at the root a person may experience health problems and the inability to support themselves or feel supported in the world. Then life will feel like survival of the fittest. It will feel like a dog eat dog world. The question of course is: “Are you the dog that eats or gets eaten”?
To gain clarity in this chakra consider what happens for you when your survival instincts get triggered. Do you dominate or let yourself be dominated as a way to survive? It’s all the same thing, just different ends of the stick. If survival themes keep reoccurring in your life it’s an indication that there may be a wound or misunderstanding that exists for you at the root/foundation level. As you explore this idea remember to observe and not judge.
NAVEL CHAKRA
As we are expelled from our mother’s womb we begin the journey to individuate. In order to do so we must pull in the “other” (things different from us) so we may eventually know self. So begins the dance of attraction and duality.
This is our water chakra and water tends to absorb things including life experiences and people’s energy we encounter. Both of these leave lasting impressions on us thereby creating future attractions. If early on in our journey it was explained to us that people and experiences have different qualities to them, some enhancing and some damaging, we will have clearer waters. This will largely depend on our early role models. If they didn’t possess that awareness they weren’t in a position to pass it along.
The right associated with this chakra is the right “to feel” and to experience our ever changing, fluctuating emotional self. Here is where we create through our desire for experience and self knowing. In this chakra we go beyond our survival needs to things we want and desire. Depending on the quality of those earlier experiences that where impressed on us, those desires can lead to joyful sailing on clear waters or feeling like we are attempting to steer our boat in the middle of a typhoon.
This chakra holds the root of many addictions as we try to feed our pleasure center. The navel is where we also experience our sensual, sexual self, the desire to create, procreate, the need to nurture and be nurtured, to feel connected and to change. People who are clairsentient are strongly connected to this chakra. The information they receive is picked up through senses and feelings. However the clarity of the information will depend on their own emotional clarity and boundaries.
As you explore this chakra question how comfortable you are with expressing your emotions, desires, sexuality, playfulness and creativity. Do you have healthy boundaries and know to say ‘no’ to things or people that are harmful to you? Are you able to be open to change yet not constantly be in a state of chaos? Observe and don’t judge.
SOLAR PLEXUS
Fire within, fire without. The solar plexus connects us to our fire center, our passion, our ability to confidently make things happen and to manifest our desires in the outer world. It’s also the source of our vitality so what we’re looking to experience in this chakra is a nice steady flame, not a forest fire nor a little matchstick.
If the solar plexus is functioning well we will take actions that burn away accumulated clutter (mental/emotional) and move upwards and onwards to a more satisfying life and the beginning of greater vision.
Although still instinctive in nature the mind begins to function better here as we attempt to rise above our survival instincts and emotional attractions placing us on the path towards clarity. One of the challenges of the solar plexus is getting over stimulated, taking on too much, burning too hot and then burning out.
What happens when our fire poops out on us after we’ve consistently been overdoing? We don’t have the energy to digest our experiences or food. Then we crave stimulants to get us going and things to help us relax. We go into a condition of burning too hot or don’t have enough heat to keep us going and fall into lethargy. We walk around tired and mentally sluggish without the passion to take us where we want to go. Our vision fails us both literally and symbolically.
We live in a society that is constantly on the go and demanding, which is hard on both the root chakra which likes things to be slow and steady and the solar plexus which burns itself out. We want fast foods that we eat while we drive our cars hurrying along to our next appointments with our cell phones on and possibly even trying to watch our mini TV’s and if the idea of that doesn’t place a knot in your poor, overworked, agitated stomach I don’t know what will.
To figure out how healthy you are in your solar plexus look to see how healthy your digestion is, assimilation and elimination. If you don’t have healthy fire none of them will work well. Are you unable to slow down and relax without help from pills, alcohol or doing something to exhaust yourself until you collapse? On the other end of the scale do you need to stir up your passion and confidence and learn how to take action in your life?
Part II: Heart and Throat Chakras will be featured in Mosaic’s ezine at the beginning of August.

Joy Within Life

The Hidden Mystery To Joy Within Your Life

by Teresa Mander

Throughout history, many individuals have searched near and far in the attempt to find the secret to happiness. Though each persona achieves happiness through a different method, there are some common fundamentals that apply to every person.

One of the most important ideals when achieving happiness is by maintaining an excellent relationship with friends and family. The majority of the population cannot handle spending too much time alone, and by having friends and family you're less likely to spend large gaps of time by your lonesome.

Taking care of your physical and mental needs is also an important factor in happiness. Daily exercise can often dramatically improve a person's overall mental outlook and mood. Exercise promotes the body's production of natural "feel good" chemicals that can definitely boost happiness levels.

Work also plays a big part in your happiness. Sure most of us don't really have a passion for our work, but this doesn't mean we cannot make what we do more fun and enjoyable for ourselves. You need to find the things you do enjoy about it and try to increase these, while not focusing on the negative aspects as much.

Meditation and reflection can also be a great way to clear your mind and increase your level of happiness. Many times negative thoughts build up throughout the day that can affect a person's overall mood. Clearing these thoughts through meditation can create more room for positive and happiness-inducing thoughts.

Generally, finding someone to share your life with would certainly make you happy over time. The key is to find a person that nicely complements your attributes and that you enjoy spending a lot of time with.

Happiness is a great thing to achieve, possibly the ultimate goal in life. If you can find that perfect person to share your happiness with, you've really made it in life.

Lastly, although it may sound clich, helping others is a great way to improve your own happiness. It all comes down to Karma really, whether you believe in it or not, and if you live your life helping others - you're going to feel amazing about yourself.

Do You Need Courage and Faith To Create New YOU?

Feature Article: Accessing Courage and Faith on Your Path of Purpose

By Fia Crandall

Recently a client of mine had decided it was time, she could not be in her old job any longer.  She had to make the leap, even though it was a leap into the unknown with no real safety net she could see.

I couldn’t believe how excited I was for her to make this leap.  She wrote a powerful blog post about it and it just brought me back to that exciting and scary time in my life when I made my leap from Engineering into my deeper purpose and passion.

I hear a lot from people talking about how they are so worried about money, security and more, all logical reasons they are holding themselves back.  Can you relate?

What I do know is that the Universe may not wait for you to get all of your ducks in a row before you are fully able to delve into your purpose and live that life you imagine.

And it only makes sense.

Why?

Because you can’t get to where you are going as the old you.

It’s the old you that is so fearful, hanging on to what is, that doesn’t trust that needs to be left behind.  This path requires faith, belief in yourself and the Universe’s support of you and your deepest desires.

You DO have a purpose and the Universe WILL support you in creating it.

How it will do that is not known up front.  And that is your challenge.  That is why faith is required on this path.

I want to help you with that challenge as that is my purpose.  To help you with that I want to help you understand two very important qualities that will be required of you as you journey forward into the live you are meant to live, courage & faith.  And they may look different than you think.

Necessary Quality #1: Courage

I thought courage was something that I just needed in the beginning of my path of doing the work I love, that I am meant to do.  I made my leap by starting a business right after being laid off of my Engineering job and only two months after moving into a brand new home that I had built.  That required courage and on some level I figured you just needed it once.

I have learned that courage is a muscle that must strengthen on your path.  It develops over time and is required at almost every turn on your path.

Why?

Because you are charting a new path.  You are leaving behind the groove of the old and creating the new and unknowable.  It’s not an overnight task.  You don’t leave your job and the next day you’re in business doing your passion for maximum profit.  It just doesn’t happen that way.

You really couldn’t handle that anyway, there’s too much within you in the way otherwise you’d already have that life.  And beyond that, we’re in a Universe of constant expansion, you will always expand.  There is no destination, so courage will always be required of you.

The thing is, the more you walk your path, the more courage just comes out from you seemingly out of nowhere.  Last year I jumped off of a twenty foot cliff into a river.  I had NO idea I could possibly be the person who could do this, even the morning of.  Yet there it was, courage.

As you move your fears out of the way and make your courageous steps, you will be amazed at how courageous you really are inside but had no idea of when you were back in the fear.

Necessary Quality #2: Faith

This one is actually easier than you think, once you know how to tap into your own and the Universe’s guidance for you.  I was once told “you must have had such faith” when I decided to start my business after being laid off just two months after moving into a brand new house I had built.

But let me tell you something about faith on this path.  It’s probably not as big a deal as you may think.  My faith was a direct result of the confirmations I had been receiving from the Universe and the inner guidance I had.

It was SO obvious to me at the time that it really didn’t seem like a big deal.  I didn’t feel like I had a deep well of faith though a few people around me saw it that way.  (If you’d like to know how to do this, I’ve captured the process and teach it here:  http://tinyurl.com/choiceillumination)

You are a spiritual person.  You have a deeper understanding of the way things work than most people.  You know that logic can only take you so far.  And when it is clear that you are being guided down a certain path you’ll experience what I did and my clients who have made the leap had as well.  You can’t not do it.  The deeper knowing within you takes over and it doesn’t even feel like a choice.  You just know it’s right.

This is a natural faith.  You have it within you already, you can’t force it, it’s not blind faith, it’s much deeper than that.  If you can’t see it right now it’s because you’re caught up in the deeper fears that are protecting you from even thinking about making a leap.  And fear can be removed, I’ve done it myself and showed others how to do that, it’s also part of my purpose here.

When the deeper protective fear is gone you will find your faith.

The leap is always going to be filled with two things.  You will likely be scared AND excited.  I was even a couple weeks ago when I made another leap by hiring a new coach to take my business to it’s next level.  It’s just how it goes so you might as well get used to it.  And being scared like that made me so excited because I knew it meant something big was coming, I’ve seen it too many times.

What would you find if you had courage and faith in place of fear?

Would you like to be able to naturally have faith and courage when it's time to make your leap?

I’ve shared the exact intuition secrets I used to make important decisions in my life that would lead me to where I am today, doing what I love with every minute of my day.  I am SO excited to be sharing exactly how I did this in the brand new “Choice Illumination Process” program.

When you can trust your own intuition to be able to follow what is meant for you you will naturally have courage and faith.

Predictions for 2012

Predictions for 2012

There are some pretty interesting predictions for 2012 from sources such as Nostradamus and various calanders.  They are calling for the end of the world to occur in December of 2012.  The more time that goes on the more convinced some are getting that the warning signs are all here.

Nostradamus isn’t from our time period, so these predictions that he wrote are from over 500 years ago.  Unfortunately for us he has been right about just about everything so far, he predicted JFK’s death and the 9/11 terrorists attacks.  He wrote of some major catastrophies occurring in December of 2012 that are going to put the whole human race at risk.  He wrote of global disasters that are so great they would destroy the earth.

One of the other doomsday predictions comes from the Mayan calander.  It states that the world will end exactly on December 21, 2012.  There isn’t much scientific evidence to prove or disprove either of these claims, but what is important is how the rest of the world is going to be acting when the time draws near.

Remember the Y2K scare of 2000, well multiply that by about a thousand and that’s how people are going to be acting just a few short years from now.

There isn’t much disputing that many believe that something awful will happen in 2012, but many people are wondering how exactly it’s going to happen.  Some think that mass panic will drive countries into nuclear war as they fight over resources; others think that meteors will strike the earth causing catastrophic atmospheric conditions.  It doesn’t really matter what happens, all that matters is surviving.

Some people dismiss it as nonsense, they think it’s just a story that’s been told over time and gotten blown out of proportion.  After all, there have been several other times that the world was supposed to come to an end but it never did, so what’s so different about 2012?

It’s totally up to you if you want to believe in the 2012 end of the world predictions or not.  But there is some information that you can use to prepare yourself for what may be coming, just in case.

How To Chakra - Learn Something New Every Day

How To Chakra?

Do you know how to chakra? Until today I didn't know much about chakra. Sure I've heard about it, but I didn't pay much attention to what the chakra is and how it works. Here is the article I came across today that made me curious enough to look for more information. You can read it HERE.

Interesting, isn't it? Below you can find some more information about what each chakra represents.

( Picture and discription credit goes to http://www.myhealthwealthandhappiness.com)
1st Chakra - Red - The Kundalini Chakra, at the base of your Spine keeps you grounded in the physical world. It creates the necessary balance and stillness to succeed in your ambitions and dreams.

2nd Chakra - Orange - Just beneath your Navel, this Chakra governs the release of sexual and emotional energy. It enables you to be in balance with your emotions, thus diffusing any build-up of anger.

3rd Chakra - Yellow - Located in your Solar Plexus, this Chakra is the seat of your emotions. Its fire and sun energy is what drives your personal power.

4th Chakra - Green - The Heart Chakra, is of vital importance. It circulates love, balance and compassion, and keeps your immune system strong and powerful.

5th Chakra - Blue - The Throat Chakra, is tied to creativity and communication, expansion and excitement. You may even feel pressure in the throat when you're not able to properly communicate your emotions.

6th Chakra - Indigo - The Third Eye Chakra, keeps your psychic and clairvoyant abilities flowing. It is the Pineal Gland, which is like a physical eye with the capabilities of looking upward.

7th Chakra - Violet - The Crown Chakra, this connects you with the higher realms. It governs thought, spiritual connection, understanding, knowing and bliss.

8th Chakra - White - The energy centre of divine love, of spiritual compassion and spiritual selflessness. The energy center that holds your karmic residue.

What triggered my curiosity is that recently I'm thinking more and more about meditation as one of the form of relaxation and way to release the stress. Since there isn't really right or wrong way to meditate I thought I’d try and see if this will benefit me. Like with anything else BALANCE is what I need.

Here is the video I found on how to use chakra:

I'm always open to new things, doesn't matter how strange they may seem.  Thinking outside the box opens more doors. I hope you too got something new out of it by learning how to chakra.

There's More To A Fashion Design Course Than Simply Clothes

Have you ever dream about being a fashion designer? I sure did, but the closest I could come to fashion design is to design and sew clothes for family,  friends and myself. The time I spent doing it was actually hard work, but it was fun as well. Here are some tips on fashion design courses if you are into designing clothes.

There's More To A Fashion Design Course Than Simply Clothes

by Pat Lowe

A fashion design course teaches all the things you'd expect it would, as it covers everything from gowns and accessories to jeans, shirts and sneakers. It deals with clothing worn by the rich and famous and the not so rich as well. But that's not all that people study when they're working on a fashion design degree. In fact, those things are actually the end result of a great deal of background study in other things, some of which are obviously related to clothes, and others which aren't so obvious.

You may be taken aback to find out that an anatomy class can prove to be equally central to fashion design as a textiles class. While you have to learn about fabrics, how to create patterns, and so on, you also must have some knowledge of how they will fit on the human body. This involves how well the clothes will drape and hang, and also how the clothes will stretch and move without strain when the body moves around. Other courses in fashion programs include more technical facets, like using computer programs for designing patterns.

Nothing in human society ever happens in a vacuum, and the same is true even of fashion. This means that anyone trying for a career in fashion design needs to understand the history and sociology of fashion trends. They need to know the history of textiles and materials, and even the politics of fashion. A fashion design course provides this knowledge and then draws it into the present, teaching how it relates to marketing and the business side of the industry.

This is why it's important for a student earning a fashion degree to have as broad a program as possible. Not only is it important to understand the past and how it affects current fashion trends, but the person taking the fashion design course also needs to be adept at using the tools necessary; not just to design fashions but to market them as well. A well rounded program is absolutely crucial to a successful career.

A course in fashion design is a whole lot more than simply making patterns and turning fabrics into garments. What people see on the catwalks in Paris and New York is the most visible result of such a program, and it's generally the thing that attracts people towards a career in fashion, but it isn't the whole picture. Students preparing for jobs in this industry should be willing to go outside that palpable, public manifestation of fashion, since the best fashion courses usually encompass a great deal more.

Taking a (http://fashioncolleges101.com/fashion_design_course.php) fashion design course can be exciting and rewarding. But it's important that you carefully assess the various (http://fashioncolleges101.com/index.php) fashion colleges and schools to make sure you get the best education you can.

Magnetically Attract Wealth - Think Prosperity

by Dawna Miller

The journey to designing a balanced life with passion, peace, freedom, joy, love and prosperity begins when you decide to change the direction of your life. It's a quest from ignorance to awareness to ultimately enlightenment about yourself and what you want out of life.

No matter where you are on this journey, the time to start is today, right where you are. Where you go from here is entirely up to you. Yes, you have the power to magnetically attract wealth and prosperity! This is the first in a series of articles on the power of thought, the secret to prosperity and wealth and living a life that you design. Each article will build on the concepts from the previous, so buckle up and let's go...

First let's begin by defining wealth. What is wealth? According to merriam-webster.com, wealth is having an abundance of valuable material possessions or resources. Now we all know what valuable material possessions are, but what about resources? When you think about it wealth really is a relative term. What one person considers valuable another may not. Wealth is personal and so much more than financial security!

Wealth is:

Whatever Excites And Lightens The Heart!

Creating wealth and success begins with a consciousness, an awareness of one's self and others. It's a lifestyle and a way of thinking. Wealth is prosperity.

It's interesting that most adults aren't even aware that they aren't aware! They really aren't to blame. We've all been raised in an environment that teaches us that if we work hard we will have job security. How's that one working for you? Where you taught how to have a relationship? How to raise children? We learned these things from the people that we associated with. Now family aside, you can't change your family, but have you looked at who you hang around with lately? Are they wealthy? Do they know how to create a life of prosperity and abundance? Ever heard that you can learn more in 20 minutes over lunch with a millionaire that you can a year in higher education? Experience in living does count. Faith combined with focused intense thought is a powerful combination, but you have to be willing to take educated risks (going out on faith) and reach out and grab that opportunity when it comes your way.

Have you every asked yourself who exactly you are working for everyday? Who is getting the fruits of your time? Who makes the rules and who has to follow them? The wealthy! Wouldn't you rather be at the top of your game, calling the shot in your life? It is possible to magnetically attract exactly what you want in life. Through faith, commitment and consistency anything is possible. It doesn't take any more time to be successful than it does to live a life of mediocrity punching a clock from 8 to 5. You can radically change your life with just a few minutes a day. Think about it, everyone has 24 hours in a day, the wealthy of this world have exactly the same number of hours in a day. Now there's some food for thought if you think you are just too busy.

Did you know that it is expected that 97% of the population will either be dead or dead broke by the age of 65? The percentage still kicking at age 65 will have to either continue working until they no longer can or rely on friends, family or the government in order to just get by in life. Again ask yourself why...

Success is not luck, it is 90% mental and 10% action. Ask any wealthy person and they will tell you the power thought played creating their wealth. Faith and focused thoughts are truly power things when combined with the right emotional intensity and action. How you view yourself is the keystone to your success. How you view yourself determines how others feel about you. Ever been around a really negative person? How did they make you feel. One bad apple can ruin the whole basket. Well the reverse is true as well. Isn't it fun to be around people who have faith, a high level of energy, are enthusiastic and self-confident?

The wealthy understand the power of faith and conscious thought. They are completely devoted to their faith and practice focusing their mindset everyday!

What's the definition of insanity? According to Albert Einstein, "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results..." Does your life resemble this statement? Maybe it's time to try something different?

The idea of prosperity and the power of focused intense thought is not something that is taught in traditional school systems, at home or by society. Why? Have you ever seen a wealthy teacher? How can they teach the concepts of obtaining wealth? Teachers are some of the most over worked and under appreciated members of our society, but they still can't teach you how to obtain wealth. What about your parents, are they wealthy? Or have you consistently heard the statement growing up that "money doesn't grow on trees"? What about society, well just take a look around.

In Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki's best seller "Why We Want You To Be Rich" said:

"The rich are getting richer but America is getting poorer. The middle class is shrinking. America is becoming a two-class society. Soon you will either be rich or poor."

Not a pretty picture. Now money in and of itself cannot bring true wealth, success, abundance and prosperity, but it sure can help if you have the time to actually enjoy life. If money weren't an issue, what would you do? That's when life begins...no more living pay check to pay check! No more working to make someone else rich.

The starting point for creating a life by your design is to have complete faith and commit to embark on your journey today, right where you stand. No ifs, ands or buts. If you are truly committed to living a life of prosperity, then you must change and in order to change you must take action. Take the steps necessary to learn how to magnetically attract wealth and prosperity to you.

What is the one thing that all wealthy people consistently invest in? They all recognize it as being their greatest asset, one that cannot be taken away and can be used any time they want...THEMSELVES! Most people do not invest in themselves after their formal education ends, wealthy people consistently invest in themselves. If you can't afford to invest in yourself today, then chances are you couldn't yesterday, last year or even 10 years ago either...and if this is you, then you really can't afford not to! The past is gone, the future is what you make it, start building your future today!

Begin your journey from ignorance to enlightenment today, your future is coming, are you ready? Prosperity is a choice, one only you can make. Take a few minutes and consider this question, "Who Are You Really"?
