Bouvier said the 18-year-old approached him and asked how far it was to 10th and Sherman. Bouvier said the distance was at least six or seven miles, so he told Reagan that he would be better off taking a bus instead of walking, especially considering the freezing temperature. Reagan said "thank you" and kept on his way to the job interview.

It's no surprise that some in the Middle East were not happy about the movie "Argo," which focuses on the Iranian hostage crisis which lasted from 1979 to 1981. But this is a reaction no one was expecting.
During Sunday's Academy Award's telecast, First Lady Michelle Obama made a surprise appearance, handing out the award for Best Picture via satellite from the White House. However, the Iranian news agency Fars not only took exception to the honors bestowed on Ben Affleck's film, which won the night's biggest award, they offered a less-than-subtle critique of the First Lady's dress.

Tomorrow’s asteroid near-miss is only a hint of what’s really out there
As asteroid 2012 DA14 makes its close pass by us tomorrow, it gives us a sobering look at how Earth is locked in a cosmic shooting gallery, but in reality this 50-metre wide rock is only one hundreds of known asteroids that are flying around us, as shown in this latest map from the Armagh Observatory:
Daily map of asteroids within 0.3AU of the Earth
This 3D map shows the current location of asteroids in our vicinity. A dot represents the position of each asteroid, along with the asteroid's name. The vertical line for each entry joins the dot to the plane of Earth's orbit. If the dot is at the top of the line, that means the asteroid is above the plane of our orbit, and if the dot is at the bottom of the line, that means it's below the plane of our orbit. Arrows from the dot show the direction the asteroid is traveling today, and the color of each asteroid's map entry indicates its threat level.

Art scholars had long suspected Picasso was one of the first master artiststo employ house paint, rather than traditional artists' paint, to achieve a glossy style that hid brush marks. There was no absolute confirmation of this, however, until now.

The common complaint about the Commuter series is that the back is too slick and any time you toss is on something it slides right off. On the other hand the reviews about the Defender series claim that it is too bulky. It’s true that it adds a little thickness to the phone but really not all that much considering how well it insulates the phone against accidental drops and damages.

13 Money Lies You Should Stop Telling Yourself by Age 30
I'm not quite 30 yet, but I'm more than familiar with the notion that this age is the new benchmark for people to get their lives together.
There are books, blogs and Twitter accounts dedicated solely to helping people cross that line in the best shape for their future. They do this by telling you to get rid of debt, stop shopping so much, start a 401(k) and brace yourself for wrinkles.
But in my opinion, it takes a lot more than a healthy bank account and nice skin to live a full and happy life, whether you're 29 or 59. Most of us know how to succeed, we just happen to let ourselves –– and a few convenient lies –– get in the way.

Can a $1 Trillion Coin End Debt Ceiling Crisis?
What if the threat of a voluntary default by the United States could be erased by simply turning one tiny scrap of platinum into a coin? That's right. No debt ceiling problem. No bickering in Congress. No market jitters. The only thing needed is for the Treasury Department to mint a platinum coin with a face value of $1 trillion.
Of course, this is not going to happen. Creating money out of thin air is hardly a solution. It could lead to even more concerns from those worried about inflation. Critics of the Federal Reserve's monetary easing programs would likely be apoplectic if the Treasury Department trumped Ben Bernanke's "helicopter drop" by minting a trillion more new dollars.
